M.P.  for Mississauga South
Stella Ambler is the Member of Parliament for the electoral district of Mississauga South.  She was first elected on May 2, 2011.  Prior to her election, Stella served as the Director of Regional Affairs for Finance Minister Jim Flaherty in the Greater Toronto Area.  In that role Stella gained a comprehensive understanding of how the federal government can make a difference in the lives of families’ right across the GTA, and how to be a strong advocate for her community.

Who is Stella Ambler?
Stella is a wife, mother, volunteer, politician and, most importantly, someone who cares about her community. She understands that decisions made at the national level impact families in Mississauga South.

Stella is the daughter of Italian immigrants who met and married in Canada and settled in Etobicoke (where Stella and her brother were born), then Brampton. After Stella and Richard married in 1992, they also lived in Brampton then moved to the Lorne Park area of Mississauga South.

Stella’s interest in politics began at the University of Toronto, St. Michael’s College (Hon. BSc, 1989) where she was involved in Conservative youth politics, making close friends along the way, many of whom are still her supporters today.

Stella understands the value of hard work. She began working summers at the age of 12 in her father’s wholesale hardware business and then at Queen’s Park, where she continued until the birth of her children after which she was a stay-at-home mother for 9 years, maintaining her community and political involvement on a volunteer, part-time basis.

Stella contributes locally in Mississauga South through her involvement in the Mississauga Board of Trade’s Green Committee and as a member of the Catholic Women’s League of her parish, St. Mary Star of the Sea, in Port Credit.

Stella’s Board experience as an executive member of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario gave her insight into regulatory and governance matters in a health care setting while her business experience as a co-owner of Vision Insurance Brokers, with husband Richard, means that she understands the value of making a profit and meeting a payroll.

Stella’s employment as Director of Regional Affairs for Finance Minister Jim Flaherty in the Greater Toronto Area gave her a comprehensive understanding of how the federal government can make a difference in the lives of families right across the GTA and how to be a strong advocate for her community.

Being a Member of Parliament is a way for Stella to put her passion for public service to work building a better quality of life for the people of Mississauga South.  She is honoured to be the Conservative Party MP in Mississauga South and looks forward to a productive term as the representative of our community on Parliament Hill.
